However, parents need be concerned because screen-induced insomnia can become a serious issue for growing adolescents. Research suggests that this sleeplessness is harmful to a child's health, and nighttime light exposure is detrimental to a child's psyche. What's more? Sleepless nights can cause concentration and learning difficulties in children who seem to be enchanted by the glow of their devices like a moth is mesmerized by a flame. Furthermore, parents should exhibit parental do diligence by ensuring their child is meeting their sleeping requirements.
Connection Between Sleeping Disorders and Substance Abuse
Some parents would be alarmed to know that there is a connection between sleeping disorders and substance abuse disorders. A teenager who consistently fails to meet their sleeping needs is more at risk of developing a severe mental disorder, as well as developing a substance addiction or exacerbating pre-existing substance abusing habits. It is no wonder that Insomniac teens turn to substance abuse, as lack of sleep is known to cause depression, fatigue, and anxiety (all feelings that drug abusers use to drugs to escape from).
